 One could say that no other department will be impacted more by pending HIMS regulations than the healthcare provider's business office. In addition to software specific to this department such as Patient Registration, Patient Billing, and Accounts Receivable, no other department must have a software to effectively operate across every other department or area.
Diagnosis codes, insurance providers/claims, ambulatory patient classifications, patient accounts, electronic billing, collections, lab tests, medications, admissions and you name it, will in some way act in concert with the business office. Practically, every element of healthcare delivery is somehow funneled into the business office in some way.
